Choreographic Statement:
DOMBAGO is a compilation of four dances comprising of: Domba – Celebration Dance from Sunugal (Senegal), Sosene – Rites of Passage dance for young boys and girls by the Susu people of Guinea, Jondon/Wolosodon – Jondon is the slave's dance and is also known as the slow dance, it depicts people shackled, bound hand and foot. Wolosodon is the fast dance. They originate from Guinea, West Africa, Sunu – Funeral Dance, where death is not mourned, but rejoiced, and is sometimes used for weddings and naming ceremonies. Traditions of the Woloff and the Bambara People, of Sunugal, West Africa.
